The Coast

photographs by Phil Sandlin

I go to the coast to recenter myself; exploring, remembering and recreating who I am and who I wish to become. I see the coast as an undeniable point of interaction where power, motion, and change are constant and interdependent. I see my life in much the same light. My photographs are a part of this journey.

The tides are in our veins, we still mirror the stars,
life is your child, but there is in me
Older and harder than life and more impartial, the eye
that watched before there was an ocean.
